Sr. Ilia Delio will present her talk, “What Do We Live For? Divine Love and Justice in an Unfolding Creation,” exploring the intersection of faith, science, and our evolving understanding of the world. Her presentation will be followed by a response and reflection from Sharon Lavigne, offering a grounded perspective shaped by her frontline work in environmental justice. Sr. Ilia Delio is a Franciscan sister, theologian, author, and professor. She holds the Josephine C. Connelly Endowed Chair in Theology at Villanova University and is the founder of the Center for Christogenesis, which promotes the vision of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin and the integration of science and religion. Sharon Lavigne is a nationally recognized environmental justice leader based in Louisiana. She has been at the forefront of efforts to challenge petrochemical development in the region known as Cancer Alley. Her work has earned her numerous honors, including the Laetare Medal, the Goldman Environmental Prize, and recognition on the TIME 100 and Climate 100 lists.
