Compassion fatigue (CF) has become far more prevalent in the recent pandemic, creating mass exits from the caring professions. Compassion fatigue, penned as the “cost of caring”, can be the result of physical and emotional exhaustion which leads to a decreased ability to provide compassionate care. Professional burnout, intricately intertwined with CF, is brought on by prolonged or repeated stress over a period of time.
